necessary that African American children see people who look like them being successful in something other than sports and entertainment.
Welcome to the African American Role Models website -- a project designed to get
African Americans like you to connect with
students (particularly African American) in grades K-12.
ARE YOU A ROLE MODEL?
Help us reach our goal of 500 role models per state by October 30th!
It's a simple process:
- You sign up
- A teacher or community program staffer searches the database for someone who wants to speak to kids, mentor a kid, or do some other volunteer task.
- They send the request through this site, you respond.
- You spend about an hour with some kids, you transform lives.
As each state reaches 200 role models, we'll begin promoting this site to schools and community groups and accepting requests for speakers, volunteers and mentors.
